The rise of Carnage

Celeste had spent weeks searching for her future pet and it wasn't easy. Gaians were fearful, aggressive to offworlders and difficult to find. Long ago they had abandoned natural processes in favour of cloning and genetic experimentation which began to produce inexplicable hybrid anomalies. It wasn't long before the Gaians realised there was a much sought after commodity they could exploit. The hybrids were genetically pure, highly intelligent and physically attractive. They were offered up for sale to wealthy civilisations for a multitude of uses. An unfortunate side effect of this was that non-hybrid clones were abandoned in the wastelands to die. It was this practice that had caused outrage among the neighbouring systems and had ultimately led Celeste to search for her lifelong pet. Finally, her trackers had located a small group struggling to survive in the ruins of a war-torn region. It was here that Celeste first saw the one she would ultimately name after the destruction that was all around... Carnage.
