Gold For the Taking

The thief had followed the countess from her castle to this town to oversee the portioning of the kings due. The countess was know to often carry jewelry and gold with her on her journeys and the thief was here for some. Tonight there was a banquet that the countess was attending, so the thief slipped into her room when all was quiet here. The rumors were true and there was plenty of gold for the taking. She was disappointed that the countess had chosen to wear her jeweled necklace to the banquet, but this would be enough.
There was so much to admire, but time was growing short and it was time to get out the window and make a getaway. The thief made her choices and faded into the darkness.
