Hall of Manwe
|
I'm now trying to go in order of Middle Earth history - Bilbo on the barrels was my exception like it was the first tapestry of the hanging wall.
For those not knowing The Silmarillion, it's the story of the Middle Earth starting with the creation of the world, and ending with the Second Age.
We see the making of the planet by the "gods", their leader being Manwe, lord of the winds and friends of animals. Eagles are his messengers.
All the long of the time before the First Age, then during the First Age, the main ennemy of the gods is Morgoth (Sauron is his main second hand). Like the others, he is a spirit made by the Creator; but his goal is to dominate everything.
The Silmarillion brings us also through the birth of the Elves, the humans and even the Dwarves.
The "Hall of Manwë" can be seen like the beginning of the First Age. Indeed, that Age started with the creation of the Moon then the Sun, to enlight the Middle Earth and go against Morgoth who hates light like he can't possess it all alone. He passed that 'way' to his creatures, the Orcs.
The ships are those from Teleri, Elves loving the sea. Unfortunately, the sailing Elves on the ships are probably Elves from another branch and they took the ships by force to join Middle Earth and fight against Morgoth.
