Goddess of the Rainforest

The Goddess of the Rainforest is the protector of the thriving life force of the rainforest and how the rainforest are needed to create a global ecological balance.

Tropical and temperate rainforests have been subjected to heavy logging and agricultural clearance throughout the 20th century and the area covered by rainforests around the world is shrinking.Biologists have estimated that large numbers of species are being driven to extinction. It is estimated that possibly more than 50,000 species a year a quarter or more of all species on Earth could be exterminated within 50 years due to the removal of habitat caused by the destruction of the rainforests.

There may be many millions of species of plants, insects and microorganisms still undiscovered in tropical rainforests. Tropical rainforests have been called the "jewels of the Earth" and the "world's largest pharmacy", because over one quarter of natural medicines have been discovered there.

This composition is loosely based on the Anime series and comic book characters from Oh My Goddess.

I also am trying a new technique to obtain an Anime style shining eye in Daz Studio based on the Character Belldandy.

Beautiful character, lovely pic. I agree, we ought to be the curators of our world, our home, rather than rowdy roadies trashing a hotel room--only living in the moment or looking for the next high.

Awe!! Fiona, Thanks you ! I do know what you mean bout the background and causing the main focus of the piece to become a little lost in the surroundings. I've been studying some anime series and sort of based this background off of Record of the Lodoss war and Oh My Goddess. She is a Goddess, so my thinking was nothing should compete with her awesomeness. One of these days I will branch out into doing all those cell shading techniques that tend to make anime so colorful and give that extra pop to the image. Thanks So much again for all your kind words. :-D

This is very beautiful- the color palette and very subtle use of fx are great. I am thankful as well for the info, I always appreciate art that conveys a message! I don't know much about anime so I can'r say whether you are successful in that pursuit, but having read the explanation, I appreciate the simplicity of the background... for me one of the ways that renders loose something is when there is a disconnect between the character and the background, or lack of background interest entirely. (As in, sometimes in the 3-d art world it looks like the figure got all the emphasis and the background was an afterthought.) But in many cases such as this one, a simple background is an appropriate and deliberate artistic choice. One thing I do know about anime is that the Japanese influences have led to simple backgrounds being the "norm". With all the "busyness" of the head piece, anything more complex would make the image too cluttered. So- I guess I am trying to say "well done!" I really enjoy this one.

Thank you for saying all this! It's an important message. Not only are all those very important species likely lost forever now, the deforestation wreaks havoc on the land eroding it away. Best example ever is Easter Island. They cut down all their trees to make rollers for their moai (those who watch the skies) and build fires. That's why a lot of the moai are half buried in dirt.
