Wow just went out to the newly installed site that I had staged at the shop in respects to it looking presentable and orderly.

I have no idea what my installers did but all I will say I would not sign my name on that install.

How in the heck did it get so up ... I have no idea ...


The real deal is now I and two others are to go out there tomorrow and make it operational.

Some additional entertainment

New trucks were added, that means the code plug needs to be modified to add the new trucks, plus the new sites need to be added in so the radios will work out there as well, sound like fun yet?

Yes, it was a rhetorical question.


The real fun was after I got all the existing model radios updated for all the new details, what do I find when they start bringing all the ambulances to the shop for programming ... yep three that were not on the system from the get go, (not sure how they managed that) plus another three that had the wrong ID's in them, and they wonder why they have such "odd" behavior on their radios.

The plus side to all of this is that I did learn how to modify the code plugs for changes of this nature and I did get it right for all of the models of radios in use today.

Granted having to add two new vehicles after the fact just means that if they want to have them identify themselves properly I will have to touch them again.

However I did learn that they are going to be adding more radios to the system over the next couple of months, which just means that when they come back for those radios, the others assigned to the unit will get updated then, so no real problem

I Did Mention that You might want to have a Company Certification for your Sub contractors to Work for You.

The only problem is that they are not sub contractors, they are fellow employees ...

We have also scheduled two days off next week .. I wonder how much documentation, for openers is going to be overlooked.

Seconded, granted they do mobile installs to the degree of it looks like it came from the factory.


Infrastructure is not their strong point .. however I am trying to drag them kicking and screaming to be capable of that also;
