Any bruising should be reported to your Doctor if you didn't know how it got there.

Column with Wings 3D
« on: November 24, 2016, 03:55:48 PM »
I'm not sure I will have the time to end the tutorial tonight - specially because I forgot to take notes :psycho: So I restart step by step.

Right click => Cube
Select all the cube thanks to the square at your right in the top of screen.
Right click => Scale axis => Y

This allows you to have a base for the column. It will also the base for the future top of the object.

If you wish something of less "rigid" in the shape, select only the face at the top (space touch to clean the selection, then use the second square at the right)
Right click => Extrude => Y
Don't go too much in elevation.
Then you can do Right click => Bevel
You can add a level in more. Then don't do a  Bevel to "100%".

You obtain the second screen capture.

************
Note:
It's important to avoid to do 2 extractions then 2 Bevel. Otherwise, you have an error message

Right click => Cylinder
Select the cylinder then Right click => Scale uniform ; this is to disminish equaly the x and z sides of the column.
The cylinder stays in the center of the "scene". No it's time to do Right click => Scale axis => y

As you notice, the column is extended in 2 direction, toward the bottom and toward the top. (first screen capture)
To change its position Right click => Move Y and leave a little part of the column in the base object.

*********
Note: the column here is in fact just an "half" of your future column. So think to this when you change the y axis. Fortunately, it's possible to change several times the y size.

It's time now to select the 2 objects. So you do Right click => Combine
and you have there only one object.
Deselect the new object, and go in an angle to see the top of the column. Select only the face at the top.

Now, Right click => Mirror
And you have your column!

But the column itself is a little too much "right".
For the moment, I haven't the solution to do it with shapes in faces.
But i have a solution to add shapes at its foot and its top.

Right click => Torus
Select the torus, the Right click => Move => Y
this is to see better the torus.

Right click => Scale Uniform
Choose what you prefer like size. But the inside part of torus must touch the outside od column. And the bottom of torus touches the base under.
To adapt the position of torus Right click => Move => Y

Before the following, smooth the torus (click on the "S" touch).

Now, do Right click => Duplicate => Y
Made a duplication 1 or 2 times.

Resize this you wish by Scale => Uniform
You will probably need to do Right Click => Move => Y to adjust

Select all your torus then Right click => Combinate

Right click => Duplicate => Y to place at the top now

Select all parts, and Right click => Combinate

It's ended!
