In this short update, we bring you just two new videos, and a recording of a recent Google Hangout webinar.

 - How to work with Photoshop ABR brushsets (.abr files) - converting them to PNG files

You probably have seen brushsets and brush collections for free download or for sale that are in .abr format, the Photoshop brsh format. For example: Ron's birds (birds and trees actually) at Daz3D. http://www.daz3d.com/deviney And you [probably wondered how you could use such  brushes or at least the images that come with them, in Dogwaffle or other tools, when they don't have the ability to load .abr files directly. Well, Dogwaffle does not yet load .abr brushsets directly. Perhaps some day it will. But for now, we wanted to show some alternate ways to use them, some workarounds. One method still requires having access to Photoshop, so if you have even an older version of Photoshop, this may work for you. * Birds and trees by Ron Deviney - using abr brushes in Dogwaffle I haven't tried this with Adobe Bridge yet, that's another idea that comes to mind too. Does Bridge have the ability to load .abr brushes and extract their images into PNG format? Definitely one more to explore. Another method uses a freeware converter, abrMate, from Bill Scott's site: http://www.texturemate.com There are great texture collections on his site too, definitely worth a trip and bookmarking. Those are free as well. Here's a tutorial, using abrMate, with Ron Deviney's birds again as an example for an abr brushset. * How to use abrMate with Dogwaffle - convert abr brushsets to PNG format And finally, just a still image, finished artwork, done with yet another tree and bird - from my neighbor's front yard. The background scene is of course 100% Howler 9.5 http://thebest3d.com/slideshow9.5/bird-and-sunset.jpg There are a few variations of this one in the slideshow too: http://thebest3d.com/slideshow9.5/index.html So many things to explore. I hope it inspires. Happy abr-waffling and howling!

- Winter is coming (free webinar on Google Hangout) - the recording

Well, it was a bit of a challenge, being new to the Google Hangout thing, and it would be best in the future to work these from a dual screen configuration. But still, you might gain some beneficial insights into Howler and how to use it for some artwork. No need to hide the experience just because of a few glitches. So here is the recording. If nothing else, it's worth a good chuckle  That's it for now. Thanks for reading, and happy waffling and howling!

...also, if you have the latest version of Gimp or PSP (X6 and higher) you can now directly load .abr bushes without needing to convert them to .png format. I recently purchased a bunch of Ron's Bushes during the Daz PC sale, installed them to the Gimp Bushes folder, tested a number of them and they work just fine.

I'll have to test that out in my PSP X7 which has hardly been touched of late.  Thanks for the tips Mary and KyotoKid.....
