Title: Urban modelisation
Post by: Aelin on January 08, 2017, 01:53:29 PM
I found a long tutorial by ArrowTips on youtube, to explain how create an environment in Wings3d.
It's a tuto in 13 videos  :yeow: (I'm only at the end of 3rd) but already i learnt some tips in the program.

The guy is a Frenchman, and he talks in French, but he uses an English Wings3d. And he tries to talks of English names for moves.
Anyway, if you need of help to understand something, ask (giving the video number, and timer inside) and I translate you.

Indeed! Mainly when his W3d version is a bit different of this of now  :yeow:
The beginning of the third video shows the final result. Imagine the shout I launched earlier :psycho:

I'm in video 7; all i know it's i made wrong something in the video 6, with a bevel because when we must play with "connect" i have a different number of faces and a different geometry. :hypno:

I have no idea why, but in the video 11 he is able to use "plane cut"; for me, it's impossible to have 2 separated objects at the end.
I'm forced to separate in 3 indeed with "plane cut". But after, i have 2 parts of wall with holes on one side :thud:
I must select manually each edge near to hole, then connect with the similar edge in front of in width. Then "hardness" tool.
*********
Edit: i try the manual thing. Because it's not a success :thud:

Like you said J :psycho:
Finally i abandonned to cut the middle wall. I wish not to do an UV map this time in Wings, even if with him i understand a little how to do.
So i push in X the size of walls around, putting them in X=150%.

Otherwise, i can't unify the stairs for street; it's a simple geometry, but they refuse to obey at the "Weld" command :thud: The result was a crash (W3D, and for a moment the session of computer) last night when i tried to change the size of last stair to do the sidewalk :hypno:

I'm on part 12 of 13. I won't not abandon now this modelization, you don't know me :psycho:

Alas, i have something wrong, too much for W3D and computer  :yeow: Now when i pass in mode to look shadows all crash again.
I need to rework all from the beginning, but in my taste this time. I will just end to look video 12, and look video 13 also.

I suspect I finally found the mistake: could be when it's time to use the "dissolve" command. It's necessary to use the right click with the mouse. And i used more often the left click

I'm arrived on the famous wall with teh command "plane cut". This time it worked  :yippee:
BUT, i have no clue why suddenly i have the 2 symmetrical parts of the scene crossing one in the other on few millimeters  :yeow: I will move a bit one side, them i'll try to "bridge" the all.

So, where amI? I have just ended to create textures. Wall number 2 was a pain for ass with UVmap; worse than the big part  :yeow:

Now I must do bump maps, could be faster (I hope :psycho: ).
Then preparation for Poser and DS.

With any luck, I'll end before the end of month.  :abacus:

I'm an Aries, so stubborn :psycho:

In Poser I had the surprise to find the "dock" with a blur texture  :yeow:
I reworked it for UV today. Now it's working  :toast:
Because my first uv map was more than 4000 x 800; it seems Poser didn't like this size.

Stay tuned for the following :iminnocent:
