Title: The new version of Firefox and the popup for insecure logins
Post by: DarkAngel on March 16, 2017, 02:36:42 AM
Some of you may have noticed that with this version when you go to a site---yes even here, if it is not an https site you get a little popup when you click or access the login page.

That is their way of telling you that the site is not secure and any information could get accessed by 3rd party (hackers).

This is a great thing to have but it is supposed to NOT do it for sites with "localhost"....wrongo, it does it for any non https site.

Here is a little way to get that taken care of---in other words TURN IT OFF

This is best for the sites in question but if you already have visited and either logout or have it set to remember your password, it should not be shown but it still pops up.

You can do this or leave as is if it doesn't bug you to see it everywhere.

1. in an open window > location bar > type --- about:config

2. click that you agree

3. in the next window type --- insec

4. when the list shows double click: security.insecure_field_warning.contextual.enabled
security.insecure_password.ui.enabled --- this one is optional

5. it will change to false, then you can close the window and you should only see your username with a key....on mine anyway that is what I see with a little key next to it.

the images shows you what I mean.

For once, I'm always waiting to take the new FF. I'm with version 51.0.1, but almost ready to change. Sooooooo your warning message comes in the good timing for me. That avoids I'll come in panic mode :psycho:

I don't know if FF has something of different with the french version, or if it's because they changed something from your warning, or if it's because of my adblocker.
But I have a smaller alert. Here the screen capture in case of another people could have the same.

I gave up on FF a long time ago.  I had to many other programs that didn't like it so I said the heck with it...time to change....

That is the popup I was talking about and this post is how to get rid of it.

You will get left with only the popup saying your username so when you click on it the username will get put into the proper area and if there is a password saved it will automatically be put in there too

Like I never save my password, I guess I will get used to this popup. Like it's just for few seconds, no problem.
