Better looking foliage

Better looking foliage is an explanation by Traveler to have a good render in Poser.



Tutorial is from 2010, but could always work.

And at the end of page, eventmobil gives also other possibilities.

This time, it seems the RDNA forum is definitively gone  So I do steps of the tutorial to show you; please be patient :smile:
I use a shrub which was free on RDNA (Spring Shrub if you know).

Basically, you have "Color Texture" and "Transparency map" for this one.
The first render is the Firefly render with the textures of beginning. And you can see that leaves are in black for some of them.

And here, you have the changes in settings.
As you see, several changes were made:

- "Diffuse color" is now at 0.5
- "Specualr color" has a grey color (178/178/178)
- "Highlight size" is 0.3
- "Ambient color" is black even if it stays at 0 (I don't know if this has an incidence or not in Poser).
- the Color Texture map is linked with "Alternate Diffuse". The color of "Alternate Diffuse" is 128/128/128.

The result is, with the same lights, you have no more black leaves.

To add some things, always said by Traveler.

- it seems the higher we are in "Diffuse color" strenght, the more "dark" leaves will be black.
- it's possible to play with Specularity and Alternate Specularity to change the result.

Another people used the Fresnel to play with the bump also.
