Title: Consider ...
Post by: Jherrith on July 03, 2015, 07:07:33 PM
How is it that since one knows bullets have no effect on a Dalek why is it that they still continue to use guns when battling them :ummm:

Just saying

Perhaps because protagonists hope that rules have changed?
I don't know really the series (mainly by name i know), then i can't answer to your question.

Handguns don't work and since most of the time those using handguns couldn't hit the broadside of a barn no wonder not if they were using say a rocket launcher or some other high powered gun that is a different story ...

Was watching Enemy of the World w/Patrick Troughton today and thought this interesting

Jamie his companion, the Scotsman from 1745, takes out one of the folk trying to shoot The Doctor, Victoria and himself, with a punch to the face.

The anachronistic part is why is he wearing a modern wristwatch?

Well, perhaps before coming of Doctor in 1745, Jamie encountered another traveler of time? And this one forgot the wristwatch, but Jamie found it cuty?
I know, it's take by hair :thud:

More trivia ...

have been watching the Indian Jones series the couple of days got to The Last Crusade and lo and behold why do I recognize an actors voice.

Well, bless my soul it is none other then Count Scarlioni from "The City of Death" during Tom Bakers stint as the Doctor.

The curious part is his first appearance in Dr. Who was in 1965 with William Hartnell as Richard the Lionheart in "The Crusade" his appearance in the Indiana Jones series was in 1989

Even more trivia ...

The Power of Kroll part V of The Key to Time series

They land on a very swampy planet, technically the third moon of Delta Magna . The Doctor is seen whittling on a bamboo reed and fashions it into a flute and then starts playing a merry little tune.

Wonder if any here realized that it wasn't just silliness but an actual song ....

Anyone want to guess?????

The Enchanted Flute other wise known as The Magic Flute was composed in 1791 by Mozart

However tis much older as in, 1738 to 1739 and by Johann Sebastian Bach

Does that help any ??????

Try this then

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tut57FfdmS0

Tis called "Suite #2 in B minor for Flute and Orchestra"

It was by accident that I recognized it while listening to it in the car while driving and recalled that I had just heard it in part five of "The Key to Time"

New trivia

Am starting to watch my entire collection from start to finish ...

So the first episode "An Unearthly Child"

There is a couple of versions of it the original pilot which was one episode only and the the broadcast version with the complete show and their encounter with cavemen and the secret of making fire.

Well the pilot has an interesting scene where Susan is in the classroom at the Coal Hill School and she makes one of those "ink blot pictures" and then embellishes it with a hexagon around the ink blot ... it has finally dawned on me what it was depicting.

The central column of the TARDIS is a hexagon and when in flight it gets all "squirrelly" inside it"

Which she then crumples up and looks concerned or worried because of it.

Fun and games abound coming soon is the Christmas special and I saw one tiny blurb and it looks like they are going to have the First Doctor and the current in this episode.

Granted the original actor passed away (1975) and so did the other gentleman (1984) who played the part so should be interesting to see how well this person does in convincing one that he is the "original" so to speak.

:tearlaugh:

The blurb looked fairly good so we think all will be fine, just sucks having to wait on it to be aired here, well get to DVD at any rate since I do not subscribe to cable any longer.

Trivia time

Just watched "The Greatest Show in the Galaxy" and guess what they actually had someone in the credits that was their "magic" coordinator

They had more then one magic trick in the episode so that is probably the reason, but thought it odd since I had not seen the credit previously ... must have been distracted :thud:

More fun when you pay close attention:

Was watching the Mind Robber w/Patrick Troughton

The group has escaped from the toy soldiers and is going through a forest. Jamie is using his knife to cut through the cobwebs, while the Doctor is pulling them out the way with his hands while Zoe is ducking under them

Seriously a knife to cut the cobwebs that the other is pulling down with his hands :tearlaugh:

:tearlaugh: I bet you could pull cobwebs down with a single hand, provided they didn't creep you out in the first place that is ...

Depends the kind of spider. If it's Arachne or Gremlin-spider, you have a problem than even a knife can resolve :pervy:
