Jeez, I've already posted on 'sity and finished another image, watered the front, sprayed weed killer, walked the dog twice and cooked and ate breakfast and lunch. Young 'uns just ain't got what it takes! Oops, belay that comment. I forgot there aren't any young'uns here..................

Indeed we slept in .... only till 6:30am since then we have picked up a couple of new toys for Poser, read half of Ten Little Aliens w/William Hartnell as the Doctor, drank to much :java: had lunch, formatted a test for the students so I can retain my most evil teacher status, pulled out some chicken to use in lunch for work this week, washed clothes, and dishes and am now watching another episode of Dr. Who one of the reconstructions, "The Space Pirates" w/Troughton as the Doctor.

Now pass the :sake: as it is past noon

ah yes, see, the weekend... I heard lots of things mentioned being done but little to nothing mentioned about creating artwork or getting on the forums...

I have just noticed that I see more art activity during the weekdays, emails and such. On the weekends my email box is usually dead.

Art is being created, it just at times takes entirely to much time, for it to render ... damn thing

Current render has been running for 24 hours so far...

you know I keep hearing how people say it takes long render times for their art, even up to 48 hours I heard once.

you all must have some really fantastic products in use to take that much rendering time

I usually just render mine in layers which definitely goes much faster than the entire scene at once... then I will apply different shaders and render the layers again... and then I use postwork blending to finish up the image. 20 minutes would be considered a long render for me.. many are within 5 minutes each... of course that adds up depending upon the number of layers involved, but less waiting time between what I can be doing as I postwork while other layers are rendering

Ah I usually do mine all in one sitting... I suck at extensive postwork, not to bad with just touch up and polish ... but I can quite often get good results straight from Poser.

Lighting is usually what slows it down the most specifically the IDL light sets, then add SSS settings in the mix.

Sometimes it is not an issue, but when I set it to final render after I am happy with the draft results that is when time rears it head

Then again sometimes I have a hard time deciding what the final scene is to look like ... I tend to work from the seat of my pants and seldom have a clear cut idea as to what I want to create.

So time to render is one thing, time to decide on what it is to look like is quite another. :tearlaugh:

It's pretty normal for me to not know what I'm going to create. I sit down with a few ideas from things I liked in some images I've seen. And, then I just start adding items to the scene until I think it's ready to render. Even after postwork has started I will go back and add missing items to the scene. I tend to think that I am channeling the images through my higher self/muse. She knows what they need to look like and I just try to stay out of her way. Her art is much, much better than anything I sit down to make.
