Definitely would like to see some decent fish though I have had this one scene stuck in my head for some little time involving a couple of osprey's and a fish

Ken G does some great birds so I have that angle covered.

Oh and that fish I used no real ability to pose it realistically at all, couple of points that will move but double ugly with capitals letters.

As I recall there are no 'game' fish in Poser. There's a tropical fish, a shark and an octopus that I remember. The skins on most all the Poser and DAZ animals and creatures are just bad, because they're planar-view skins, so they stretch even without morphs. They've got no displacement maps for fur, scales and such. They're all just bleh.

Will have to check those links out when home, never saw the koi one.

But the idea I have for my scene require trout sized fish for it to work.

That sounds about right must be why I don't use any of them to start with :tearlaugh:

That's a nice list, Aelin.

Those koi aren't too bad. The skins look a bit dull but that could just be the render and that is easily fixed. They'd work in the water just fine for the presence of koi there.

dRaCX, I'm all for the fish, but what I really want to see is that wolf. I've hunted everywhere for a really fierce wolf for Halloween. I've got the DAZ wolf, but he looks like a sniffling, poorest excuse for a wolf I've ever seen. I have Lynne's wolf which uses the DAZ wolf, but I've never been able to get Lynne's to work for me. Most of her stuff works great, but not the wolf.

I would love to see a wolf that looks more real, I can't get Lynne's to work either. I also would love to see more clothes and hair for G2 female and male especially free. There are some but not that many. And fish yes. I would love to see a realistic dog and cat , one that doesn't look like the fur is nil. A dog that you can add mats for different fur long short, etc. The Daz  and cat, well. Are there any good ones out there yet?

...regarding Daz, Studio I do agree, it being an ongoing beta test has become pretty old.

Currently the latest "update" (4.7) not only broke AoA's effects cameras (which I use a lot) , but Reality4 as well, having been rolled out only 12 days before the release of R4. Palao is doing everything he can to fix the situation, but I fear it will require another full beta test on his end to resolve all the issues and most likely, a "Reality4.5" release for Daz Studio.  This is part of the reason he (and other plugin makers) stopped working though Daz as every few months a new version would be released that would break something (even though Daz says the 4.5 SDK has remained unchanged).

Also not happy about some of the moves they made like "vaulting" older content, allying only with providers of expensive software (Adobe, Pixilogic, Optitex, and recently, NewTek), rolling out a major site "upgrade" in the middle of one of their biggest sales events of the year, previewing forthcoming products and announcing beta tests for site changes only in their exclusive Platinum club forum, as well as the lack of attention to their other software products, most notably Bryce and Hexagon, both which need to be brought into the 64 bit world (the latter which has serious stability issues and has not seen a major update in 6 years).

However, at this point, kind of stuck with having to play beta tester as Daz Studio is what I first learned on since at the time I was really strapped for funds and couldn't justify plunking down 250$ (or more) for something I wasn't sure I would continue with.  I do now have Poser, (won a copy of Poser8 as part of a prize pack in a 3D challenge and was able to use it to upgrade to Pro2010) but by that time I pretty much had Daz Studio down to the point I could use it in my sleep and felt somewhat lost with the Poser UI and lighting system. I currently use PoserPro primarily for cloth dynamics (Daz's system is ridiculous, the full dynamic plugin is rather pricey and it is "closed ended" as only works with specific Optitex designed clothing content) and texture/shader creation (the Daz shader builder still has a "few" bugs).

So yes, a Daz user but not a totally satisfied one.

It has nothing to do with which app is "better" as for me it was purely an economic decision. Had I the resources to afford Poser back then, I would very likely be working in it instead today.

That said, anytime I see a thread like this one, I'm all over it like a shark is to meat that is thrown in the water as my modelling skill is, well, pretty bleedin' poor (thanks in part to the situation with Hexagon I mentioned above).  So, I hope that the models which come from this thread will be useable in either programme (save for Poser dynamic clothing of course) as I have little difficulty with adjusting Poser shaders to work in Daz Studio.
