just looked up my celtic / druid... did not know there was one

it seems I am Alder, The Trailblazer

I do like the writeup on it and would happily see that unfold... long way from that little girl who once talked to the moon

The Alphabet of the Trees

This is the Celtic-Druidic Ogham Alphabet, also known as the Alphabet of the Trees.

This is taken from "The Song of Amergin" and arranged by Robert Graves in his book "The White Goddess". Each month has a consonant letter, and a tree associated with it. Note that their months were a bit different than ours.

Dec. 24-Jan. 20:     I am the stag of seven tines*       Birch      B
Jan. 21-Feb. 17:     I am a wide flood on a plain      Quick-Beam   L
Feb.18-Mar. 17:     I am a wind on the deep waters   Ash      N
Mar. 18-Apr. 14:     I am a shining tear of the sun      Alder      F
Apr. 15-May 12:    I am a Hawk on a cliff         Willow      S
May 13-Jun.9:        I am fair among flowers      Hawthorn   H
Jun. 10-July 7:        I am a god who sets the head      Oak      D
                 afire with smoke
July 8-Aug. 4:      I am a battle-waging spear      Holly      T
Aug. 5-Sept. 1:      I am a solmon in the pool      Hazel      C
Sept. 2-Sept. 29:   I am a hill of poetry         Vine      M
Sept.30-Oct. 27:   I am a ruthless boar         Ivy      G
Oct.28-Nov. 24:      I am a threatening noise of the sea   Reed      NG
Nov.25-Dec. 22:           I am a wave of the sea         Elder      R
Dec. 23:              Who but I know the secrets
                 of the unknown dolmen?

*The stag of seven tines was a royal stag, associated with the Solstice and the herald of the new year. It is equivalent to Capricorn. The Winter Solstice begins on either the 22nd or 23rd. The Sun does not move north or south for three days at the Solstices. Presumably, that is the meaning of the strange bit for December 23. The unknown dolmen is also a 'device' where the vowels are as the 'floor' of the dolmen.

Interesting, didn't know much about Chinese or Celtic signs and had to look them up.

Apparently, the Chinese have 4 sets of signs, depending on the year, month (inner animals), day (true animals) and time (secret animals).

So, I have Yin & Earth in the year of the Goat. Internally, I'm a Horse with Fire, truly a Monkey, but secretly a Tiger. Yeah, I think my mom could have told you that. HA!

Looking for the Celtic signs, I stumbled upon this page. http://edenstreehouse.webs.com/celtictreeastrology.htm

It list the 13 trees sidherose mentioned, but also has animals and some other tree calendar that's mixed in without much explanation. The second calendar doesn't even align with the first. Kind of confusing.

There's 40 trees, 1 for each equinox and solstice. The other 36 are interspersed between those, and second half of the year is the same as the first.

All I've found about it so far is that it's the Druidic calendar.

EDIT: Fixed a mistake in the calendar. There should be 40 trees.
