Hey now! I am not bashing Blender at all! Please don't get things twisted!
I was commenting that Blender is pretty easy if you have ever tried to get Maya or the far more brutal, C4D under control.


Not at all my friend, wasn't implying anything like that....I agree with you. I was just saying that Blender has come a long way from the crapware it once was. Unlike Daz, Blender actually improved with each version...

Never messed with C4D but did have or still do have a copy of Maya 6 Unlimited and man talk about a colossal mind rape. Interesting thing was I was able to follow a couple of tutorials in the series of books for it and actually got it to work correctly.

Beyond that though I walked away from it as intuitive it was not back then and it fell along the way side. Although maybe after I wrestle with Blender and Anim8or for a bit I might see if it is still floating about somewhere and try again.

I hear that my friend!! I have Maya 2012, uninstalled it but then reinstalled it because I can't stand for anything to beat me...LOL I still only use a tiny fraction of what it can do but, it would take longer than I'll live to master it.

did I start all that :shock: ps blenders better now then it was then

as for mum she got worse was in and out of hospital a few times, she came to live with me, that was fun for a little while (she had dementia)
but then she died  :rainy: am running fast and if I get away from this black cloud I'll do some tuts

Sorry for your loss my friend. Yeah, Blender is better now that it ever was even if there are some who do not agree... They most likely didn't use it in the early days of it's development. Uh yeah, that was a nightmare!

I made Blender a part of my main toolbox now, create almost all my base meshes in it. The game engine though still has a lot to be desired...it's great for platforms games and FPS's but that's about all.

BGE is the only part I never stuck me nose in, had a play in most other bits, vse is a pita but it can produce nice stuff just need to spend a few hours in there I guess get the same with the nla editor got some amazing power in there but its time and effort wasted unless you need to use it

I love modelling in blender used to prefer hex and was faster in hex but think blender is better now and its bloody great for uv maps [unlike hex]
all the oh no its r/click biz is nonsense seen all the arguments about that and yet they all r/click in windoze to save target, open new doc or open in new window etc
never say that in the catfights do they
opps me rambling

Uh yeah! I gave Hex a run around the block just to be fair and found it wanting in many aspects. The biggest was UV Mapping. That was a joke! Might have been great mapping back in 98 or so but doesn't cut it these days.
