The Hobbit
« on: January 18, 2015, 04:27:51 PM »
Well, now finally getting around to not only purchasing the Hobbit series as it is at this point but do have the Lord of the Rings Trilogy

.... :sigh:

Have yet to ever watch it though ...

How ever we have been watching the first two Hobbit episodes and all I can say is that I will have to re-read the entire series to appreciate the film adaptation.

You'll like it.  My Dad loved them, which I thought was strange since he was not into that kind of stuff.....so for me that was a double   and I had to get them.

I do, so far but as mentioned, I will have to read the set again to get all of the nuances.

Well, now this is interesting in the credits for the "Unexpected Journey" what do my eyes see but Sylvester McCoy (the Seventh Doctor) listed ....

The story of Hobbit is many increased to make a trilogy.
But for the Lord of the Ring trilogy, no enough time, so they cut some parts of books. Like Tom Bombadil... or Glorfindel

I do so like the part in "Return of the King" where Gimli says to Legolas after he downs a war elephant ... that still only counts as one

To make the Hobbit (which is quite a short book) into 3 epic films I believe they took a lot of material from the Silmarillion.
It's all a figment of my mind. In a world that I've designed. I'm charged with cosmic energy
Has the world gone mad or is it me?

In Silmarillon, Tolkien talks a little of Dol Guldur i think; and in Lord of the Ring too. But we have not really explanations on action.
