A thief on the net
« on: April 14, 2015, 01:36:56 PM »
Sorry to make a topic on this subject here; hope its' the good category.
I go in RR to present my poses for Eastern Dragon (and talk by this way of the Attic Free Zone), but i see a recently topic on the free forum: Second Life model thief
Yes, it's true.
The people who warning us is LuxXeon that we know for his free models.
The rumor says he stoles items of Stonemason (items sold by Stonemason on Renderosity).

I see the thief store, and i see several models of the "Poor Lord" series by AlKoponen (on Sharecg). These free models are sold for several hundred dollars.

In the topic of Renderosity, you find the link towards Second Life store. I'm not sure that i can put this here.
And pass the message around you!

sadly this won't be the first nor the last, it happens quite often and most of the times the vendor doesn't know about it

Yeah, this happens more often that not. I don't think there is any vendor or artist that hasn't at some point in time been ripped off by these types of people. I've had items I've made over the years ripped by low life's.

The best you can do most of the time is contact the owners of the site they list them and demand they be removed. For the most part, once you provide proof that you created them then they get removed. Some times however, the small fry sites will ignore you... but they will comply if you get nasty with em about it....LOL I love that part!

I have seen those warnings on Wilmaps posts on ShareCG but now I have really seen some items that look the same on Renderosity. That is really bad I think, not sure what to say more.

I misread this post at first glance...LOL I see now what is being discussed here. That TOS by the owners of Second Life; I wouldn't worry about this if I were any of you because their new TOS is NOT legal and binding!

You can NOT enforce any kind of TOS that trumps an Artist's/Modeler's proprietary rights! Linden Lab’s has absolutely lost their minds if they think they can get away with that...LMAO! There are written laws that protect individuals against attempts like this. You CAN NOT create any TOS that overrides existing laws....Period!

their TOS has change these last 2 years. With this change, Wilmap says now
"My items are not to be used on the Second Life website. They have recently changed their TOS and are legally able to take/steal anything uploaded and resell/redistribute the items."

Now, i understand better her idea when she writes this.

People are so gullible these days...LMAO! It is nothing more than a Marketing Strategy to breathe life back into a dieing arena. If you piss a bunch of people off then it draws attention; later they will revise the TOS and apologize for any misunderstanding. You watch and see, seen it done before...LOL

None of that is truly enforceable! If that be the case, I could create a text requiring your first born for using my content. Try to enforce that in a Court of Law!
 :tearlaugh: :tearlaugh:

The ploy is working on their part...people are biting... hook, line and sinker!

Update:

Just as I thought...LMAO! I just found a comment from Linden Labs concerning the new TOS.

Yes but at SL one must NOT contact the person directly since they will just take them down and then reupload them with anew persona.

there you must contact Linden Labs with avatar name---their store link---your items they have and fill out the dmca and they will shut them down.

I am glad we have spell check since I have been transposing letters a lot lately :thud:
Fear not,
