Umm I am still running Win XP on the house system.

Granted I get the macro to run but it is not doing what I want it to

"fetch each line item in my download folder and paste it into the spread sheet."

is that a program you grabbed ? went off to check (I like macros) and not been in windows since 3.1 but theres dozens of free programs to do the same thing
maybe try a few see what I like
although I just want it to start 3 or 4 proggys at the same time

used to be a proggy to save a database of all your stuff but that was years ago (P7 days) maybe not around now
or theres p3do that's got some tricks but I not used that for yrs not sure it can make a database

Not at all I was trying to write a macro for Excel 2007 to do the data entry for me but I can't seem to get it to work.

I had done a search to see if it would show me how to do it and all I got was stuff that was way above my comfort level.

I do have p3do though and it never occurred to me to look at it so off we go to check that out. I know it does have some bells and whistle as I can open Poser file and find out where all the pieces part are located which has been a boon more then once.

Ta-da

:yippee: and all that :woohoo: and :cheer:  with a touch of :letusboogie:

It works

P3DO select what you want to copy and the go to > Tools > Copy paths to clipboard

In the options select "strip path " & "strip extension"

Click OK and went go to my Excel spread sheet and click on the next open cell hit paste and :yippee:

It works

Now the troublesome part turns out I have over 3500 items in the freebie folder .... and that is just the free stuff don't even get me started on the paid for stuff.

Time for the next trick sort it out per character, well, maybe that should have been done first but since I now can import the files into Excel all is going forward.

And when you know, don't forget to add if packs are for commercial renders or not perhaps? Just an idea.

That would certainly be a thought for going forward along with placing a date when I got it

Would have to open each one though to find that out but it would be the proper way to finish off the spread sheet and it is not so bad now ass I have got the names of each item in there it is only a minor addition to the fields for additional info to truly make it one useful to me and easy for others to duplicate.

Just in case you didn't know P3do is a free program for the basic version, which is what I have, and that enabled me to transcribe over 3500 files in less then ten minutes.

Indeed, i didn't know, but i try to remember this if i touch a new time to Excel and similar  :peek:  :thud:
Sometimes, we remember for some reasons if pack is for all renders or not. After, it's a question of habit to do this.

Open Office does the same thing as Microsoft Office and it is a free program with a version of Excel that you can reverse save to be able to read it in a full version of Microsoft Office.
