Something Wicked February 2016 Challenge
« on: February 07, 2016, 01:14:03 AM »
As you saw in the "Unexpected" challenge awards there are some swirly things--how's that for technical terms...LOL

This new challenge is going to be really easy and all you have to do is incorporate these swirls in your artwork....Something Wicked is the name of the game.

Something wicked...the main thing implied by the title is something meaning just that something in your image that needs attention... and wicked meaning:

 adjective:
evil or morally bad in principle or practice; sinful; iniquitous => wicked people; wicked habits.

mischievous or playfully malicious => These wicked kittens upset everything.

distressingly severe, as a storm, wound, or cold => a wicked winter.

unjustifiable; dreadful; beastly => wicked prices; a wicked exam.

having a bad disposition; ill-natured; mean => a wicked horse.

spiteful; malevolent; vicious => a wicked tongue.

extremely troublesome or dangerous => wicked roads.

adverb:

Slang => very; really; totally:
That shirt is wicked cool.

Rules:

1. 3 entries per person
2.  ends Feb. 29th, midnight forum time
3.  provided swirls MUST be in the image, how many is up to you.

Winners.... 3 of them, I hope, that will get their choice of a $25.00 Xurge coupon or  (2) AnimaGemini prizes

Album is located here: Something Wicked February 2016 Challenge.

I created the swirls you will be using, high resolution so they are huge. The swirly things will be zipped and you can see them in the image below. They are yours to keep and maybe use in your artwork...anyone may download them free.

If you have Photoshop or maybe PSP you can even warp them and use them on separate layers to give the effect of "under" and "over" an item.

You can download them from these links---large files:

      William Shakespeare (1564-1616)
                from Macbeth
A dark Cave. In the middle, a Caldron boiling. Thunder.
                Enter the three Witches.
       1 WITCH.  Thrice the brinded cat hath mew'd.
       2 WITCH.  Thrice and once, the hedge-pig whin'd.
       3 WITCH.  Harpier cries:—'tis time! 'tis time!
       1 WITCH.  Round about the caldron go;
    In the poison'd entrails throw.—
    Toad, that under cold stone,
    Days and nights has thirty-one;
    Swelter'd venom sleeping got,
    Boil thou first i' the charmed pot!
       ALL.  Double, double toil and trouble;
    Fire burn, and caldron bubble.
       2 WITCH.  Fillet of a fenny snake,
    In the caldron boil and bake;
    Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
    Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
    Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting,
    Lizard's leg, and owlet's wing,—
    For a charm of powerful trouble,
    Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
       ALL.  Double, double toil and trouble;
    Fire burn, and caldron bubble.
       3 WITCH.  Scale of dragon; tooth of wolf;
    Witches' mummy; maw and gulf
    Of the ravin'd salt-sea shark;
    Root of hemlock digg'd i the dark;
    Liver of blaspheming Jew;
    Gall of goat, and slips of yew
    Sliver'd in the moon's eclipse;
    Nose of Turk, and Tartar's lips;
    Finger of birth-strangled babe
    Ditch-deliver'd by a drab,—
    Make the gruel thick and slab:
    Add thereto a tiger's chaudron,
    For the ingrediants of our caldron.
       ALL.  Double, double toil and trouble;
    Fire burn, and caldron bubble.
       2 WITCH.  Cool it with a baboon's blood,
    Then the charm is firm and good.

brinded - having obscure dark streaks or flecks on gray
gulf - the throat
drab - prostitute
chaudron - entrails

The above appears at the beginning of Act IV, Scene 1 as found in:Shakespeare, William. The Globe Illustrated Shakespeare: The Complete Works Annotated. Howard Staunton ed. New York: Gramercy Books, 1993.http://www.potw.org/archive/potw283.html

Have you seen what you've gone and gotten yourself into here, DA?

:tearlaugh:

After looking at these entries you have to choose from, I wouldn't want to be you right then. It's going to be real hard to pick!! Some real beauties cropping up in there ;)
