I am not having any problems with chrome browser.  I am not sure if it my external spell checker is working here or not.  But I am not having any problems with spell check.

does anyone else have trouble when using spellcheck?

I find that FF on my mac and Chrome on the pc have forgotten how to spell check anymore. I click it and nothing happens but FF on the pc does have its little popup window for checking.
I'm on a french computer, so when i talk in english all is not good for spell check. Many many red until i send the message :psycho:  So no problem for me.
It's a W8, with FF too.

Speelchuck werks finn fore me.

I use Yahell for my News, Mail, and Sports scores....it's not a Browser.  It has an extension that can be used on all the main Browers such as Edge, IE, FF, Chrome etc.

Mary....it's the MAC.....when one says that...one has said it all :tearlaugh:

I ten to agree TL, with the newer OS -- OS X= that they have gotten as well as the 2008+ year comps the Mac tends to be a bit twitchier and aggravates more than ever....not as easy to tend to un-needed extensions and such cause they are inner dependant on each other.

Before OS X we could delete any extension in the extension folder that were not with installed software so ALLLL those printer extensions were not needed especially if we had no printer, to the trash they went. Same for preference files, cache files and unneeded applications.

But not now, now you get rid of a printer extension and something else doesn't work plus it used to be that your desktop---like the pc had its main area and its user area, both areas had the library folder for essential applications stuff. Now they have gone and hidden one of those folders so that to get to its area for troubleshooting I have to make them visible. To leave them visible there is no choice but to have allll the invisibles showing -- I keep waiting for them to wise up and just allow the invisible folders only to be left visible.

I have a 2008 MacPro desktop and like it, lovingly it is called a cheese grater cause of its silver appearance and all the holes...LOL I totally hate the look of their new one, looks like a big -- tallish -- black tube. yuck

I think you got you answer. I have a new custom built windows machine and eventually ended up with FF because of this site, as none of the  :OMFG: work with Edge for some reason and yes  the spell check works for me, and boy do I need it. Not because I can not spell, I can not type. :dispute:

that's for sure, I know how to spell, I can type fairly fast too but it has to be the keyboard that moves the keys on me...yup that's it :panic:

does anyone else have trouble when using spellcheck?

I find that FF on my mac and Chrome on the pc have forgotten how to spell check anymore. I click it and nothing happens but FF on the pc does have its little popup window for checking.

Regarding Chrome for PC, you have at the top right of the toolbar a button with three vertical points. This is the command to customize Chrome.
If you click on it, a menu is displayed. In this this menu, there's the 'Parameters' option.
When you select the 'Parameters' option, a new web page is displayed. At the bottom of the page, you have a link to 'Advanced Parameters'. If you click on it, you have an access to some additional options.
One of these options is a checkbox with the label 'Use a web service to correct spelling errors'. I guess you must check it to activate the spellcheck but since I don't use it myself, I can't tell how it works.

I don't have any MAC and then, I don't know how FF works on it. I only use FF for PC, which has an option to activate the spellcheck.

The new MACPro desktop is black ? Must be because it has a lot of mysteries to hide. :OMFG:

According to Chrome I am up to date 53.02.2785.116 m

I see the verticle 3 dots in that corner but when I click on it there is nothing for parameters listed, just above exit is Settings but that is as close to parameters as it gets.

However after prowling the Settings link I did find that little item in there so clicked on it to allow and we shall see what it does, what I can't understand is why chrome on pc and mac Ff are both doing the same thing...weird.

It's also weird that FF for MAC and FF for PC don't work the same way.
I have the same version of Chrome than you, but I use the french version, what could explain why you don't have a 'Parameters' command.
But 'Settings' seems to be a right english translation of my french 'Parameters' command.
