Yup on the diabetes...Lorna is a type 2 also.  I'm borderline....but so far nothing drastic going on with it for me.

Hope all goes well with the wife.  That's what they mentioned about Lorna when she was in...Fluid around the heart.  We all know there IS fluid around the heart that acts as a lubricant....but excess is not a good thing.  Positive thought and heartfelt prayers heading out to her....with some left over for you my friend....

We seem to have a lot of diabetics here in our midst. More than I ever heard of previously. It's likely due to that High Fructose Corn Syrup crap they put in Everything these days. The body doesn't know how to process it, like it does natural sugars. I avoid that stuff like the plague as much as is possible.

Must be one of the advantages of cooking from scratch regularly. Have not heard those words uttered to me ... yet  ... or is that still
"But who is stronger, truly, I asked myself, he who continues to wound and bleed himself to please others, or he who refuses any longer to do so?"

Me too because of the thyroid and things that are high in sodium, as well as the HFCS and the unpronounceable stuff that doesn't even sound like anything 'normal'. :thud:  Like 'BHA and BHT' preservatives and all those wonderful things you love to eat' as it used to say on the Screaming Yellow Zonkers  ingredients list on the box.

And MSG -- GAH!! I can still use salt but as my doctor said, "Don't add salt to your pretzels". Moderation is the key.

I can't even use non-dairy creamer if it's got carageenan  (or however you spell it) in it because it's made from seaweed. Doesn't get much saltier than something that grew in the sea! Not to mention all the other sludge and bleh in the seas. My friend here said she read they were trying to phase that out now of non-dairy products. Good news!!

i stay away from  high  fruitcose corn syrup as much as possible  and  follow  a  protein and veggie  diet
low sodium and cook  most meals  from scratch  helps to keep  blood sugars and A1C down
