I hate it when people text "Call me."

I'm going to start calling people and as soon as they answer I'll say "text me," then hang up.

Hi folks, me voila again!
It was an awful week. Skipping it would have been cowardly so I couldn't but accept it with as much good grace as possible.
Imagine a town where everyone thinks, feels, talks and acts strictly by the book, where deviant notions such as that life ought to be enjoyed rather than suffered are gravely frowned at, where any hint of original thought is brusquely brushed off with a "don't be silly!" uttered by guys and gals that chronologically could be my grandchildren and still between their ears are way more senile and sclerotic than me.
The only one who wasn't uttering inane commonplaces all the time was the corpse we were burying, my mother-in-law, probably because she'd run out of raw material in the 97 years of her 'life'.
Dreary, drab, squalid... no, those are ludicrously weak approximations but I fear that my English isn't up to defining the real thing adequately.
 :sadder:
So here I am, severely overdosed with burgeois respectability, moralism, sanity and other horrible plagues that affect the humankind since hypocrisy was invented. And I desperately need help from healthily insane people like you!  Please tell me again that in the rest of the world there are still humans who think with their own brains and are themselves rather than what they are expected to be... :winks:

That sounds perfectly horrible! Like some kind of hell on Earth! You poor man!

Ah well, worry not - you're back amongst the loonies!

:ty: Thanks Sidherose, your words are a balm on my ulcerated humanity! :ty:

Yes, hell on Earth is close enough also considering the > 100°F I found there - and I was duly wrapped in a formal jacket or else... :kaboom: :IMtired:

I would feel much the same under similar circumstances. Okay...I have felt much the same in similar circumstances with my mother's family. But luckily that was only for a day. Enduring an entire week, in a formal attire....

:OMG:

Sounds like a very rough time indeed Chiron.  Always remember....at any kind of funeral not one soul will tell a bad story about the deceased....only the good ones....and if no good ones exist...they make them up.

Not easy putting a smile on the face, or nodding yes, or trying to have emotion...when it's not within you at that moment.

But as Ray said.....you'll always fit in here....I may be sane....but it's only a title ....  Damn, that sounded deep.....

I better get more :coffee:  I'm not awake yet it seems.......

You may say that loud Thelufias, it was rough!

Yeah, you're very right, at funerals no one has the guts to speak ill of the deceased (and I might even agree with that, it would be cowardly), but a honest dignified silence would be 1M-times better than the usual hypocrisy you have to cope with in those circumstances.

Anyway take it easy and don't worry, being deep and being sane are two quite different things :winks:

And I understand you well, I too need a few gallons of  :java: : I'm still dreadfully jet-lagged since the town I was speaking of seems to be still a few centuries behind CET...  :yippee:
