...well I remember the "Oleo War" back in Wisconsin when Margarine that was coloured to look like butter was illegal there. I kid you not.

I still remember when just on the other side of the Illinois - Wisconsin state line, there used to be numerous outlet stores with huge signs advertising Oleo for sale. Yeah that's how serious it was.

Humm............ what cheeses are vegetarian safe?
Mainly those with vegetal enzymes, so not all Camemberts for example (expensive bio brands, or one by President brand).
Gruyère, some brands of Roquefort and Fourme d'Ambert (sweetest cousin of Roquefort). Some goat cheese.

Thanks for the list Radkes, even if rare are those we have here.

2427 and counting
You work well J!  :toast:

RLOF!!

I love the Roquefort and Gruyère, but most of all the smoked Gouda !! My least favorite is probably the brie my brother explained it as having the taste of dirty gym socks! LOL!

One reason not to pull the finger?
I think your brother was unlucky, he did't get a right brie.
There are so many brands, that some of them are good ones and the other ones are bad. :shiv2:
What I can say is that I already ate brie that didn't have that taste of dirty gym socks.
Speaking of smell, did you ever try muenster ?

It's not a legend and several muenster in the same wagon, it's sure it doesn't get unnoticed. :tearlaugh:
It happened when many people didn't have a car. They took train to go to buy muenster in the farms and then, they came back by train too with their muenster in the wagon. :shiv3:

My mother and her sisters and brothers lived this. Muensters in the luggages, in several packages and tea towels. But I guess it's a good thing to repell people to come in a wagon with many children and smelling cheese :psycho:

The smell is in the cars now.
But many children in a wagon is always a good thing to repell people who want to go into it. :yeow:

Well curds sort of do look like cheese.............. http://i.huffpost.com/gen/2714370/images/o-POOP-EMOJI-ICE-CREAM-facebook.jpg
Hmm hmm :Felix:
This one seems to be at an advanced level of fermentation, much more than curds. :shiv3:
Considering the brown color, it's rather ice cream than cheese, maybe something delectable in chocolate ? :ummm:
I don't know why, it reminds me of Unicorn poop, except the color. :iminnocent:

I didn't get to WI until 1976....so I missed all that fun....  But being as this is "AMERICAS DAIRYLAND"  according to the state logo.....I can believe it.

Illinois is a 15-20 minute drive for me...depending on how many farmers are herding their cattle or pigs across the main road....then you stop and wait...or get out and lend a hand...which I've done with cows crossing....  But I sure won't get out when the pigs are being herded...damn mean critters....

pork chops  aint  the  nicest  of  things  to deal  with  but  they cant  hold a candel to an old  razorback sow  with/without piglets  as they  will cheerfully  show  you  how good  they can  use   their  tusks
