Agent: I particularly like Anna's hurdy-gurdy in that song.  They are surprisingly melodic, given the voice of Chrigel.  Some of their early lyrics were in Gaulish.

sidherose: Given the songs that you've said you enjoy, I'm not at all surprised.  And now I have a label that I can use to warn those who might not enjoy similar stuff away: "death-metal 'gargling sandpaper' singing".

You like Behemoth I take it....?

I never have been able to listen to that sort of voice. I hate it, seriously. The music might be great but to me it's 'silly' in the sense of overdone and not quite as effective as how McCoy does it. But then again, I went from Bauhaus to Sisters of Mercy to Fields (FotN). Then I heard that stuff and I just couldn't take it.

I don't usually like the blackened death metal bands.  I need more music in my music, if you see what I mean.   :winks:   Even Carcass, one of the founders of death metal, doesn't appeal to me.  I mostly go for melodic death metal, like Arch Enemy and Semblant.

When my wife first heard Eluveitie she wanted to know if that was singing and then if there were words in it.  Both of my boys have liked Eluveitie, eventually.  They are definitely an acquired taste.  This band have a wider range that some, for example (note: does not contain death-metal 'gargling sandpaper' singing):

although most of their music sounds more like Quoth the Raven and less like Call of the Mountains.  Two other typical performances are and (note: both of those do contain death-metal 'gargling sandpaper' singing.)

The Call of the Mountain made me a fan! That girl has a set of pipes on her! And I like the incorporation of nonconventional instruments. It makes things more interesting!
