so excited when I saw ur reply .......was sure u'd give the right numbers  :pleeeeez:  lol
was just saying u don't need a transmap IF u have a pic with an alpha channel
for a close up of a leaf I am sure ur way is much better {I wouldn't use that trick for a close up either}
but for a item that takes up only a few pixels of the final pic !! it is a trick can save u a few moments of time
is first big pic of the poser superfly I seen ..........(cant see some noodles but guess where they go lol ) why the 2 surfaces ?? can u tick one to supefly an other to firefly ?? confused but not enough to buy another poser lol

Three surfaces. I didn't show the Cycles Surface. You know Cycles shaders already. I like the Physical surface. Simple PBR textures.

Poser_Surface will be recognized by the Firefly renderer in older versions of Poser that won't accept Superfly node arrangements from P11 and up.

Both surfaces shown will render correctly in either render engine. Combo shaders if you will.

The noodles you don't see are ones leading off your node 'cause they aren't hooked to anything. They are just for illustration of what one would see if they opened your node tree as posted. The simple leaf shader noodles are visible.

It's late there and I have stuff to do on this end. I'll show some more on this later if I remember. Mind's loosing things these days.

Finally I abandonned this tree coming from Ivy generator, to make one in Sculptris. Of course the number of triangulate faces was :OMG: But I used the "reduce selected" function, keeping just enough of my shape.

For the UV mapping it's in Wings3D... 4 days step by step. It's not ended yet, but I begin to manage the "cut" function in the uv place.

You are now the UV master Aelin!  :havefun:



Sculptris looks interesting but I think it would be very hard for me to control :smile:


I've looked more at tree[d], the supplied textures are low res and sometimes branches will poke through the trunk, but overall I think it produces a good looking tree and both issues can be fixed.

think the trunk an branch's is not a problem in sculptris
but how are u going to put the leaves on ??
does wings have a particle system now ?? (that's how I would do it in blender )
placing a few 100's of leafs by hand would drive me mad


ps the retoppo on ur ivy tree is coming on ;-) not had a lot of time this week had my greatgrandgurl


an she tires me out to the point I cant think
is some spots I found the ivy mesh cross into itself so will try to fix that an make them more roundish

Children are made to torn us :psycho: Don't worry about the tree.

No leaves aren't coming from Sculptris, I'm using Ivy generator leaves to add on the tree, keeping a part of branches coming with the ivy stuff; little branches to avoid an heavy thing (and they will be seen from far away compare to the trunk). I have to do adjustement on the texture for these branches, but like it's square, it's easiest than for tree.

lol for a trunk that size I's expect longer slimmer branches


u using a mouse or tablet ?? ........tablets a bit better if u got them skills (I haven't lol )
use long slow strokes scuptris can keep up with its toppo  but long branches
add shorter ones later if u want
start easy front back left right {dunno why but head went adroit/gauce kk spellin bad )
then use the move brush (forgot its name there is move in blender) add wiggly bits from all angles


one day I'll get u in blender and mtdana ;-)

I have just a laptop, no tablet. I read already a tablet is better but the budget is limited on this way :hypno:
So branches came as longer as the screen accepted to show them even with P command; for a reason I haven't found yet, the middle of the mouse wasn't able to zoom out when oriented for the top.

Brushes Draw and Grab mainly for the shape. With invert time to time.
