So, let's get busy suggesting.

Hey Ray! Haven't been around much - life has been a bit out of control... one of my best friends passed away, then a week after that my wife was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst... followed by surgery, recovery (including 24/7 pampering) and the loooooong wait for the all clear from the biopsy... Then as a reward for my wife being a good soldier, we adopted a 2-year old... Umbrella Cockatoo (rescue) that is... Which is like having a toddler who will remain a toddler for the next 40-80 years... (but he's a total doll...)
How have you been?

I'd say you've been rather otherwise preoccupied! Sorry to hear about your friend. You have my condolences hon.

Oh, those 'lovely' ovarian cysts - ugh. Been there, done that, have the tee-shirt. That must have been a bad one to have surgery. My condolences, and congratulations to your wife on getting through it. I suppose I should congratulate you as well...right? :winks: We are not happy when we have problems like that.

OMG, you are so right about the eternal two year old you now have. But they are wonderful pets. Just don't leave anything made of wood that you value out where the bird can get at it. Congratulations on your 'new baby' - LOL.

Yeah, we are both pretty happy to have that behind us. She started getting pains on her lower right side (near where she had an emergency appendectomy about 10 years ago, so at first we thought it was related to that. It just kept getting worse (she described it as having a little shark inside, gnawing at her). Sorry to hear that you had to go through that, too!
And the wood thing - no kidding! And plastic, and paper... and pretty much anything he can get his beak around. Very good-natured and cuddly, but not as bad as the "velcro bird" reputation Cockatoos have - he likes to play on his own in during the day and likes his people attention between 5pm and bedtime at 7:30.
Anyhow - sorry for hijacking the thread!

I'm not worried about the 'hijack' - it's what we do. That's why we started keeping a post with a list, so suggestions don't get lost in the other chatting.

Eh, there are worse things than ovarian cysts...but not many.

Ah yes, parrot types LOVE anything they can chew - wood the best, plastic second and then everything else. It keeps their beaks sharp and strong. That and their talons are their defense and they know it. He sounds like a pretty well adjusted little guy. Have fun with him!
