How cool is this...... :ta-da: :ta-da: :ta-da:

We do value your opinions so be as kind or as harsh as you wish.  I only have six bullets in my gun..... :) :) :)

Just kidding.......

Your critique is very important to us since this is our first time doing a book on our own.  And remember, this book will represent us so it needs to be acceptable by all.

Thanks in advance for your help.....

First thing to say is wow congratulations Michael. I cannot believe that you have just started out doing this. I think we will all agree that it is so much better than the last contribution we had. It is nicely laid out and just looks great :)

I don't see any page numbers so it is difficult to be sure that things are actually on the correct page I don't know whether you need to make everything divisible by 4 (or 8 or 16 or 32) because I am not an expert on the software or the requirements for this sort of printing. But I would assume you may still have to
Bios
Daniel Benway
Alan Christensen
Maxine Frazier
Vic Graves
Steve Jones
Pamela Harrison
Wayne Martell
David Price
The spacing looks a little strange because there looks to be a difference between the text next to the image and the text below. Would it be better if you had hyphenation on? (There are a couple more like it but they are the main ones)

Vic Graves
Barbara Ann Saleh
Natasha Svansson
text on last line next to the image looks further to the left than the rest of the text.

First comments only :)

First it is in here for proofing by admin only, as alluded to it would never be agreed upon by the whole set of of contributors. Plus this is to be published and hopefully generate two or three dollars to make the site self sufficient.

I am not understanding your page number comment regarding divisible by?

I tried it with hyphens on and it actually looked worse as then I could not get the font size to be the same on each one and make the edited bio's fit.

Yes, this is the first time I have ever one used this program and two ever tried a project of this nature and complexity. Many thanks from us all as it was a joint effort to get it to this stage of completion.

And just to reiterate this is for admin eyes only for proofing purposes only.

Keep the comments coming.  This is what we need.   And then we have to play till we come up with a good solution.

The first thought as to missing bios is from the fact that there were a lot more people involved in the beginning, the bios present represent those who are featured in the book with the exception of WaWa who said no to a bio and Anna who never provided one from the beginning, additionally several of the poetry and prose contributors never provided one.

Look at a printed book or a magazine and you will see that it is made of pages. These pages are folder from a larger sheet.
Take a sheet of paper and fold it down the middle and you now have four pages which you can number 1 2 3 and 4
Take an A4 sheet of paper and fold it in half bringing the two short edges together. Then fold it in halg again bringing the two new short sides together (do you see what I mean?) You now have 8 pages. Number them from 1 to 8 and then unfold the sheet and see the position of those pages on the flat sheet of paper.
If you have done it correctly on one side you wuld have the numbers 8 and 1 at the top and 5 and 4 at the bottom but upside down. On the other side you would have 2 and 7 at the top and 5 and 6 at the bottom side down. Take a newspaper apart and look at what page numbers are on the one sheet of paper.
That is how a normal book is set up for normal printing. But you use really large sheets of paper so you could well have many more pages on the one sheet. If you look at some books you can actually see that they are printed in sections. But always divisible by 4
Now printing on demand may well be very different. I don't know - but I have a feeling that it did say somewhere on the lulu site that if the number of pages was not divisible by 4 there would be blank pages added in.
So, it is difficult to see at the moment if the pages are in the correct sequence for printing.
But I  think it is better if a book has numbered pages and if you have a content page that that page has the number that each section is going to start on.
I am assuming also that like any book you will need a front page that says the edition of the printing and who has the copyright etc etc and maybe a dedication page. Again just look at any printed book. It could be that lulu will set up everything for you in the right position so long as they know which page is what number so they know where to drop it on so it appears in the correct position in the book.

@J: yup that is right but I think the nes I may be remembering are the ones that pulled out...lol the brain is jumbling them all together...ty sweety

@Bea: good idea about the content page with numbers and I think the guidlines at LULU or wherever we are getting it done said something about it...but again I know not.

I recall the page count being divisble and it looks like that I would have to add one additional spread (2 pages) to get the math right.

I will have to go back in there to put a actual number on each page and then could update the table of contents to reflect that.

Will have to work up something on the other suggestion.

Next up looking for serious and hard look at the layout of the pictures and categories, layout of the poems through out, names, titles spelling and so forth, yes I did a spell check a dozen times and exercised my meager grammar and sentence structure skills. So my eyes are blurred and I can't see the trees any more because of the forest.

So break out the fine tooth comb and lets get that part hammered into shape next.

Let me play with the page numbering when we are done with the other edits.  I had numbering problems before and found a cure and how to do it so it works.

Bea, with C2 and C3 it's not as simple as saying...."Number Pages"   You have Front pages that don't need numbers, credit pages that get different numberting Etc.......

But we'll get if figured out.  Thanks for the look see and let us know what else you find.  It's all very helpful.

Don't forget your page numbering does not start on the first page Some books start the numbering in the contents page  :) And some books have something about the authors on the inside of the back cover :)

Michael I have said it once but I just want to say it again you have done an absolutely fantastic job - much better than Anna in my opinion :)
