How to Achieve DOF without using Rendering Software Part 1

How to Achieve DOF Without Using Rendering Software.

When I first started rendering on 3d software render engines did very little beside lighting and rendering.  Most computer had about 512 kilobytes to one megabyte of read on memory and took along time to render a picture and you could not render to many object together then either most object where what we call low poly models to day.  We had to do render parts of the picture so we could put the picture together on layers in a photo layering program, the first program to do this was PhotoShop.  These rendering programs did not have the ability to do DOF in beginning like Poser when they first came out.  Even today it is not easy to get DOF to work poser, at lease for me it is not easy to get it work the way I want it to.   So when I work in poser and want to use DOF I take one step backwards it will work in every rendering software that is available.

This tutorial is set up in DAZ studio, but it can be done in Poser or any other rendering software too.

What you do is set up your picture with the background and characters.  Basically what you are doing is rendering the one part of the picture that will be in focus and then making a render of what is not going to be in focus.  You are going to make the blurred section in a photo editing program like PhotoShop, Paint Shop Pro, or Gimp.  Then putting the two layer to together to create a picture with DOF.

Poser Pro got even better this year.

They have made it easier on content creators by integrating Poser Pro Game Dev into Poser Pro 11.

Now the content creators can create for runtimes and games with only one program!
