checkmark in box
have gotten around to using artificial tree no fuss no muss and don't have to cut live tree that way it can grow and produce  more oxygen for  us to breathe  cause when they clear a large parcel of  land  it is  worse than a clear cut  it is stripped of  everything sure they replant  shrubs and  such  but all the  trees and  such are gone

I too used to think that way until someone explained to me that Christmas firs are grown specifically for this purpose and, if left alone, they wouldn't have enough room to survive anyway as they are being planted really thick.
Since then I felt less guilty enjoying their discrete fir scent and their company in the darkest nights of the year, although I would never dream of cutting a real, spontaneous fir in a forest to cheer up my Christmas.

P.S.: I have voted.

Mine are done put away now...LOL I know a lady that still had hers up until April. Another would shrink wrap her tree then just "unpack" it next year and another that does not put it away at all, she just removes the ornaments and lights then puts ornaments for the next holiday in their place...LOL

My Mum used to make us take all the decorations down before the first of January, she said it was bad luck to keep them up after that. I have my suspicions that she only said that so that we wouldn't have a dead tree for ages in the living room.  :shiv3:

Yup....we have loads of tree farms around our neck of the woods.  When one is chopped down...two more are planted.....and they don't take eons to grow  Most grow to 6+ feet in 7 years....

Mine used to do that too but she would say that after Jan. 1 so the tree had to be down by the 3rd.

Bah, humbug.....  :tearlaugh:

We usually don't put up a lot - it's mainly just the two of us - so they usually get put away before Jan 1. I have neighbors down the street that still have theirs up, but that's probably because it's too damn  :sno2: to fool around with taking lights down. They still have them all lit up at night, though..
If all is not lost, why can't I find it??  :thud:

Got the lights down but still trying to get all the stuff back in the garage is taking longer than usual.  :sno7: :sno2: :sno3: :puah:

When the cats have finished de-decorating the trees and pulling down the rest, then we pick it all up and put it in their storage bins... and then we put up the red lanterns and get ready for Chinese New Year :)
If work was easy and fun, we'd call it vacation instead of work.

Jan 7. Except for the empty tree stand in the corner of the living room. I haven't dared to go down into the Pit they call storage cages in the dark and frankly somewhat dangerous basement of the building.

For me, growing up, the tradition was to wait at least until January 8-12, after Three Kings Day. But since I'm sick and my family knows I like everything put away certain way, they wait for me to give the go, lol(they at least know more or less where things go but they don't dare touch without asking)....this morning I started taking stuff down but had to stop, still feeling weak(from flu) and more if I stand for to long.

You know what Sandra? Those things will still be there when you're feeling much better :winks: Seriously, this flu isn't anything to mess around with if you get it. You don't want it for going on two months. You really don't.
