Love the list of reasons Chiron especially the last five :heeheehee:

Truth be told I do love my job, mainly because of the fact that it is paying back to the community.

Yeah we have idiots for a boss and their concept of business models leaves a lot to be desired.

Found out more on the request today, surprise ... NOT ... it is a shop that was just bought by Motorola. Which means they probably only have low voltage installers or worse temps working on a do this or do that and not a one understands what or why they are doing what they do.

Additionally remember the comment about analog to digital that means they still have the 20+ year old equipment called CIE's for their dispatch interface even more fun to upgrade a center from them to the latest and greatest ... just saying ...

so not on my list

Well, time for the real treat, I am caught up on the outstanding projects.

Need information for the cables at the hospital so I could print labels ... got it and completed.

Grounding was still required at the SHTF Dispatch site for Orange county. Completed both at the site and where it is tied into the county wide network. Two different locations. However all grounding is completed.

The electronic, turbines, specialty equipment place is completed and . Already have had the customers approval on the template layout and we were ready to program the radios, until we found out that the customer had requested two additional frequencies from ye ole sales rep, so now we wait for that information to be delivered. The real issue though is that ye ole boss is going on about having to "vet" that template before programming to make certain all check boxes that need to be selected are and those are not be be selected are not, yet he takes yesterday, today and tomorrow off.

So no "vetting" is going to take place even if we had the other two frequencies, so this is efficient ... how?

Bottom line though my work for the customer is completed, installation of the equipment. Is he pleased and happy, yes indeed he is and the projections and ruminations he pondered out loud sound good, but as it is written "where is my shaker of salt"

The other side of the coin, yes, I do get to be involved in the programming of the radios as I do know how to, but since I am waiting on others anyway ...

Time to take some of my PTO off, since ye ole company only allows one to roll over 40 hours from the previous year.

I currently have 116 hours available ... :ummm: best get cracking on using that down to 40 or below, or I lose the hours and yes we do not work for free, (just saying) before the end of January as that is the cut off date.

So since we be caught up and starting on Monday of next week we are out of town for the R56 training class... plus exam for certification.
Why not take a couple days off, so got the company truck home along with the personal car for the rest running around rubbish between now and Monday.
Might even get a couple three things done around the place like last weekend :whattodo: yeah right ... such a  fantasy.

Well someone needs to have one or three.

Oh we even managed to get out and do a PM on the portables and repeater over at the previous boss and owner of the shop; prior to be bought out by Motorola, at his "golf club" he golfs at one of those places where you have to live in the community to be able to play there and oh you still need to pay for an outrageous membership fee for the pleasure of playing there ....  :ummm: yep no understanding here.

Now here is the real rub, why if you are a system tech are you calling me on the phone asking about how to ground a site?

You have been around longer then I, one would have thought you were at least passably conversant with grounding requirements.

and yet you are calling me asking questions about how to ground a site to R56 specs.

Something is not quite right to me in my mind on that point.

One you have access to the same material for checking up on the answers to the questions. Which means you are too "effing" lazy to look it up yourself.

Two you went to the "meeting" along with many others to Las Vegas and was given a thumb drive that had among other things the latest training guide for the R56 manual plus a file listing all of the changes in the publication.

Yet you didn't even bother to figure it out on your own.

And people wonder why I give them a hard time. I always get told to look it up when I ask a question, well the exception is our senior tech he will take the time to explain and or print out relevant details for me, so he is not included in that list.

:tearlaugh: No shotgun to load with weed killer. Could always attach them to crossbow bolts though, those ought to leave a mark or three

Now this is ever so embarrassing ... seriously it is ....

While the kiddies were doing the hands on exam last night I started to read the actual R56 manual, got as far as the definitions before I just cringed, died, rolled over, howled at the moon, soiled myself and a few other unmentionable "ehem" things.

Why ???

Are you ready

Definitions of the abbreviations used in the text ....

CATV

means what ... come on you can do it folks

What

It is actually known as Community Antenna Television, since 1940 to be precise.

The disturbing part is in the 2017 R56 manual they defined the acronym as "cable television"

I am so embarrassed ... seriously I teach structured cabling as a part time job and this is in a "official" manual.

And I am supposed to take this seriously .....

 :sigh: :thud:
