Has anyone in here ever purchased the Backstage Pass at EvilInnocence?   I see they have it reduced in price as an introductory offer...but what caught my interested is over 200 exclusive items can be had at no additional cost.  Just curious...not planning on buying the pass.....Maybe  :java:

Nope I haven't it - it's even 431 free items with it.
I know 2 or 3 years ago everybody was able to obtain 1 freebie of that Backstage Pass, probably like a bait :pervy:

Good Afternoon Attic Denizens!  It has surprisingly climbed from the forecast 20°F to a lovely 45°F.  I fell asleep on the sofa watching the movie Novarian, Mogwai was right beside me, and somehow my house shoes fell off.  I had a wonderful nap!  LOL!  :ny-fathertime:

The sky is clear and the sun is shining so bright.   A really beautiful day up on the Caprock in the beautiful Texas Panhandle!    Amazing day to wake up to.   Feels like early morning, but the clock and sun right overhead say nope, half the day gone.

Aelin sorry to throw in a spoiler on you.    But you're right too, in that for these movies you need pictures to go with words to make sense of the descriptions!   The visuals in all of these movies are just gorgeous.   I have all of them, some of them twice.   And I don't regret buying any of them.  They each offer lots of special features.  Tons of behind the scenes and talk from the actors.  Loved that stuff as much as the films themselves.  Wow.   Seeing how they do so much of the stunts is great, and seeing how the build the worlds inside that giant stage setting is boggling.  Oh boy.  You GOT to see all that stuff Aelin!
I think I have almost talked myself into a Hobbit marathon very soon.  To see it all in gorgeous Full HD on the 40" HD Widescreen Sceptre TV will be a treat.   Terrific picture!

Don't be sorry, believe me. Sometimes I read quickly in the coffee shop. And I remember between all your message I saw the spoiler word in capitales. I passed to the next message, and I don't remember what I saw.
But trailers are kind of spoilers, and even if it's not totally like the book, book is also a kind of spoiler. At least I know the beginning, the end, and main steps of the adventure.
I think when I'll have movies I'll look them directly in English. With subtitles to begin of course. Because now I started to look series and movies that I know already, I hear how many dubbing of actors isn't good. When you know only French version, they set tone, but when you hear the original version the tone is very different; back to the French version it's... horrible to listen. And sometimes we have mistranslation of few sentences in French :hypno:

I-10, The biggest longest main artery from East Coast (Jacksonville, FL) to West Coast (Los Angeles, CA).  That is a long piece of road!  The night it opened for traffic, I was one of the first ones on it.  Going home on 20 days leave,  65 Ford Galaxie 500 family car.  My first car.  Yaknow, at night with no streetlights lit anywhere on it, that is a DARK drive man.  Just your headlights, and all that darkness, driving through it at 55-60 mph (yep the daze of the double nickel!) was spooky.  And kind of hypnotic.  I got on it in Jacksonville, drove to Alabama, pulled over to the side and just slept.  Woke up to dawn, then drove on to Houston.   Going back a couple weeks later, the street lights were on all the way.  What a difference!

Smaug can't be a good dragon, no one dragon can be good in Middle Earth. It's exposed in The Silmarillon what is their origin.

I got to read that Silmarillon!

Hey guys, have you see that?
https://www.howtogeek.com/338269/a-huge-intel-security-hole-could-slow-down-your-pc-soon/

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2018/jan/03/major-security-flaw-found-intel-processors-computers-windows-mac-os-linux

Yes.  It looks like the system will have to be moved into a separate address space which will make each request to the system a little slower.  It's likely the "go as fast as you can" work that Intel has been doing for a while is the cause of this.

Did you also see that NVIDIA has changed the license on their software to disallow the use of the commodity GPU's in data centers?

January hasn't been a very good month for computer stuff so far.

Linux fix is in testing.  Windows fix is in the testing versions.  Amazon and Google cloud services say they will reboot fairly soon to apply the fix when they have it.   This can be all kinds of bad for services like the Attic if the bad guys have figured out how to exploit it.   :OMFG:

The sad thing is....it's never ending.  Once a fix for anything is in place....something else is exploited.  But then again....the more things change....the more they stay the same..  We'll see what happens.  We certainly have little or no control over it....

Best we can do is take the necessary precautions....keep up to date with all items on the computer, and keep up to date with what is being done to resolve issues.  Places like How To Geek seem to be the lead when news comes out....and when fixes are in place.

I sought for English news like I saw that first in French, and yes Howtogeek was almost the first site in the list for you.
But hosts like OVH (which Europa is very dependent) will need to make the change too. Sites will be slow for hours tomorrow. Amazon will do the same, which significate that maybe freebies on Renderosity can be nearly impossible to catch.
Well, essential is we are protected.

Excellent end of day guys!
Storm is always blowing here,.
