Wireless on Vista stopped connecting
« on: June 11, 2010, 01:47:11 AM »
This happened to my daughter just recently...Vista sr2. She started the computer and it refused to acknowledge or rather start using the router we have here.

To test that it did not die we tried connecting to our neighbors router and yup it worked.

Finally I found the answer rather than the "reformat and install the OS again....there is too much to reinstall doing that so this is what I found after several hours of searching.

the fix:

1. go to START in the lower left of your screen.

2. type --- run in the window for search

3. at the top of the list that comes up click run

4. next window type---- regedit.exe  then hit OK, this will give you another window

5. In the list locate then click the little + next to it: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE]

6. next click the + next to : system

7. + next to:  services

8. click: ndisuio

9. double click: start

10. a little window will pop open and here you change the number shown to the number 2 --- save then QUIT being connected if you borrowed another router then restart your computer

after it restarts you will be able to reconnect to the router your wireless connection was on before.

Fear not,
You are never alone,
I am there to comfort and guide you...
Always.

even on my mac i refuse to reinstall the OS unless it is absolutely necessary...and I can archive and install and not lose registrations and all...lol

so i try to find some other way to fix things cause if I don't have to take it into repair shop that is good thing too

Thank you DA! I have a similar problem since the last of my afternoon - so, i think it's a similar problem.
I will get a capture of this and try, but must tomorrow. For the moment, it works

But i have a disconnect of the explorer by windows now too by moment.
Or this alert (in the screencapture); and it's this which avoid i come on the net by moment, or appear when i'm on the net.

No problem with several spywares. (sorry i forgot the "anti" before spywares)

host process for Windows Services stops working and was arrested

a problem is causing the malfunction of this application. Windows will notify you if a solution is available

tis site tells you what to look for, says it is an incompatibility of a program and the steps to hopefully fix it.

host-process-for-windows-services-stopped-working -- english version

If it is when you are using FF alone then it may be a plugin that is bothering it. If you are running another program when you get the message maybe it is too old or needs an update....or the computer needs some updates.

In fact, problems starts after installation then  :dustbin: of Chrome.
I reinstalled FF (this time last version). And after all this, i have that kind of popup (even when i'm not on internet).
I think if i can't find a solution this week-end, i need to buy a new computer  :thud: Not previous but necessary.

I will try your link DA. Thank you!  :so-shy:

One error on 2 (because 1 is often back 2 or 3 times in few minutes) is normally exit of pc.
I never go in this part of administration  :3flower; :ty_luv:

yay, I think, for now anyway. May the errors stop.

I always said that with their current updates Chrome tries to take over the computer not just the net. I even tried Comodo Dragon (both versions) and they are Chrome-like too but I started getting errors that something or other was not going to be supported.

Then they got an update and guess what, they worked but they also started to try to control things...so out they went. I never got the hang of Opera, but it was always saying that many sites were unsafe or had errors so I quit using it too.

Even on Mac Safari has been less than nice, problems galore with visiting sites to its own preferences where it won't let you get rid of the cookies or passwords. It is not too cooperative on PC either.

The problem with all Browsers is the amount of time and support they give to the Mobile world vs the Computer world.  Everything nowadays is slanted towards tablets and Smartphones, and the changes they make on their browsers affect everything...not just the Tablets and Smartphones.

I've had problems with browsers also in the past...but now I take the time to read every darn security item they put out and change my setups based on what they have written.

To date...No major problems with chrome, but have had problems with FF....and IE...

I don't think Chrome killed it....Vista did.  :tearlaugh:

I'm not sure if the changes in Chrome even take Vista into consideration which would explain your problems.....  I know Vista is still supported by MicroSoft but now sure how many others programs update with Vista in mind.

TL, before to start with Chrome, i taken time. Because i helped several weeks ago my aunt to install and use it.
No, my computer can't go on google and yahoo and wikipedia... a new time. And i replace the last flash at the minute on my computer.
If i want go on these sites, i must remove FF of my computer each time i light on it. Not a good way.
And explorer "jumps" when i start a session. I risk to froze the internet in a moment...

All those came after i take chrome; and more after i remove chrome of my computer. It's the last time i take this c**p browser it's sure.
It entered on Vista, and change my updates!!! I never ask this to it, i never allowed it to do this.
