Body Pains?
« on: November 06, 2012, 03:20:59 PM »
Was just curious about something.

My whole life, I've had what I always called 'nerve pains' which were sharp, needle like pains that radiated from wherever- random locations each time. Nothing seems to cause it, they happen whether sitting or moving, arms, feet, legs, hand, back, chest, ears, face, whatever.

it's not constant, and each time the pain will "pulse" or stab for a few minutes then go away.

Silly thing is, I thought EVERYONE had this kind of pain until my husband asked me why I always got these pains... and I asked him, "doesn't everyone? they're just normal nerve pains." And he looked like I was crazy, and said he'd never had them.  I get these pains so completely randomly.  Sometimes I'll get pains 2-3 times a day.  Sometimes not for a few weeks.  Sometimes intense enough to make me stop and wince and look stupid.

I doubt its anything serious, i mean, i've had this FOREVER. As long as I can remember. I think my sister is the same. We both thought it was normal.  Even my mother has the same pains.

On a (possibly???)related note, she has severe neuropthy (nerve damage and dead/dying nerves) in her hands and feet, and my sister and I both have forms of nerve-related issues and slight neuropothy (like numb feet/tingling fingers).

Never asked a doctor because like I thought it was normal till a year or so ago... my family all has it (well my dad never shows pains so I wouldn't know if he did). so of course I just  assumed the whole world was like that ! :P

What about you guys?

Yep, I've had those exact sharp pains you've described. I've always gotten them -- sometimes often and sometimes not for months. I really never gave it much thought. I wouldn't let it worry me; I don't think it's anything to fear.

yup and it doesn't get better when yer getting older.

I can't seem to get rid of sciatic pain in my back that radiates from my buttocks till in my leg. I know those expression about wince and looking stoopid. Happens more often when i'm really exhausted (like now for instance lol) I should go to bed it's passed 11 pm ... but one more render, one more promo....

hehe i know what you mean...

actually it makes me kind of think of a short story/picture i saw once.

There was a fish that lived in the bottom of the dark, cold ocean, and it was a sick fish, always in constant pain. It was still a happy fish though, and that was all it knew. One day a fairy fish came to it and give it a wish: one day to see the world above.

Above, the fish saw light and colors and warmth and health, and no pain. It was wonderful and miraculous.

But the fish despaired when it returned to its cold, painful and dark world.  Before, it had known nothing else and was content. Now it knew what a life without pain was like and could never again accept the existence of its pain and the loss of a painless existence.

That's a pretty depressing tale, but in a way it makes sense. I just accepted my pains as normal till more recently and now it stresses me out, makes me worry, makes me jealous there are people who never deal with recurring pain.  You know?

I'm good though, seriously. Just that I feel more older, more creaky and more falling-apart every day. Guess that's true regardless for everyone.l

Aw Ali Sen, yes pain as you get older is a fact of life. I have no idea how old you are, but I'm 74, and I live with pain daily. I have pain in my back, pain in my hands, pain in my legs, pain in my eyes, and I have  tinnitus (ringing in head); so yes, I'm falling apart. But you know what, I'm happy -- I have a wonderful life. I have a wonderful family, a comfortable home, friends, a hobby I absolutely love, I get to travel some -- I think life is fantastic! I honestly wouldn't trade my life for a pain free life if it meant changing who I am.

wow nitab, i would never have guessed, you sound so young and enthusiastic!!

I felt so young till I had a baby... and it was such a hard birth, and I couldn't walk for almost 2 months afterwards because of kind of spine destability that was so painful I'd just drop if i tried to walk... well there were a lot of other problems... my neuropthy stuff is worse postpartum, and i feel like something s always hurting... i'm only 30 but i feel at least 45. It's been nearly two years since I gave birth.. i dont know how moms bounce back!

Yes, Ali Sen -- I am young and enthusiastic. LOL In my heart, and you can be too. Look beyond the pain and forget about what you DON't have, be thankful for what you DO have. You're just a kid -- you've got a lonnnnng life ahead of you -- enjoy it!

Nitab is absolutely right.  Always flip a coin in your favor....even if you have to use a two headed coin.  I figure there are enough folks out there that would love to make me feel miserable without  me making me feel miserable...But I don't let them nor my body get the best of me.... :tearlaugh:
