Poses for one generation useable on another?
« on: February 24, 2013, 09:38:24 AM »
Here's the thing.  I've seen some poses for V3 I like but I'd rather use with V4 & Genesis and some for V4 I would also like to use with Genesis.  How much of a problem am I going to get into here?  Also there are some M3 & M4 poses that I'd like to use with V4 & Genesis female so the same question applies there as well.

Not very many just make sure you uncheck inverse kinetics From the Figures drop down on the tool bar and you should be good to go. There might be some minor tweakage in some instances but for the most part they be compatible

Remember though I use Poser only but I see no reason why the concept should not be the same in DAZ

Now that I think about it there is also in the Edit > Preferences in Poser a tab on the box where one can tell it to use universal poses so which makes it possible to use poses from one generation to another with little to no tweakage required.

Generally that only occurs in extreme poses mind you

Thanks, J.  I can swap over to Poser if need be except for Genesis (Yeah, I know about DSON but it has limitations when it comes to Genesis.) but it won't hurt to do some playing in DS prior to that.

From what I understand of DAZ it is similar in many respects ... I just choose to not use it due to a bad experience in the past with it and as far as the DSON thing I picked it up but have no intentions of using it either mainly because now it wants me to buy Genesis figures and I already buy enough Poser stuff to keep me broke so why go there :tearlaugh:

Yeah, I know that feeling all too well.  I don't have a whole lot of store bought items compared to freebies (and I don't have a lot of them either, all things considered) but I have enough that it has caused budget issues a time or two.

I'm avoiding using DSON.  First, I don't want to use anything that requires it in Poser.  Second, I don't trust it.  Hmmm ... maybe the first is because of the second.  Anyway, Poser format works in Studio so I'm happy with that.  Hmmm ... I wonder how Posette & Co would like to be used in DS3A ... :-)

Won't really be an issue, you may need to tweek a bit the finished pose, just to make it fit them a bit.. for  proportion allowance bend the legs more or not as much side side ect ect...  Most of the limbs ect are rigged the same. The most annoying thing your going to find, is that some people cheat to make the pose look right, for example a side side motion on the elbow, which is really evident on V4 for some reason!!!

Okay, thanks.  I wasn't sure if the rigging was essentially the same between generations or not.  But sitting here thinking about it, it would have to be at least close or they wouldn't all be able to be used in DS4.x.  (I'm not sure that made any sense but I'm suffering a very low caffeine level at the moment.)

Kianna would be honored to bring a pot of the very best :java: if it would assist in getting all cylinders firing properly.

However she needs to hurry back to Luffie as he needs constant attention.

Poses from V4 and M4 will also work for Kids 4, Kludge. I've even used them on Mavka and other Toon figures. I've also used them on many of my Fantasy Characters such as The Troll and Goblinz. A pose is pretty much for any one. :Hi5:

Valid point but as mentioned I set in the Poser preferences for it to use universal poses which makes it easier to apply them across the board, some minor tweaking on occasions but for the most part tis usually a translation tweak on the "Y-axis"

I have never set use universal poses in the preferences. I didn't know it was in there. Guess I better check that out. Thanks, Jherrith.
