As Albany and 1-BLACK went through the launch checklist, S448 did some checking of its own.
"Commander, I find that we are in FTL. You do know that I do not have an FTL drive, don't you?" asked S448.
"Yes," responded Albany.
"What does that mean?" asked 2-ORANGE from the floor behind Albany's chair. It had never been involved in starship operations.
S448 responded, "Once we're outside of the FTL field of this ship, we'll be dropped into interstellar space. We will not be able to reach a base."
"Seal the hanger and open the launch bay doors, please," said Albany.
