The System Magistrate

Two days later Ash got a call from Luna's grandfather, Beren. He'd been asked to host an Emissary of the Galactic Gaming Commision's System Magistrates to hear testimonies from Eli, William, Kai-Feng and Ira regarding the Interloper, Setanta. But first, he would read all the records of written reports and testimonies from the time. "This ain't any Magistrate, I gather. I'm to give him whatever he asks for, as far as the written stuff. Have you ever heard of Raziel?" Beren asked Ash.

A laughed hiccoughed from Ash's lips. "Oh that's rich! Lyl couldn't be bothered to even assemble his own team to investigate this? Raziel is truly completely Neutral. He won't even comment of your case until he's heard everything to his satisfaction and double checked and made up his mind. Has he started the interviews yet?"


"He ordered Eli up here this morning to testify about the Feral Wars incident. It's the latest out of them all. He's also asked for William to bring Nikki with him. You know - Setanta's the one that made Nikki into a cyborg."

"I remember that. Nikki's the one that helped William and Kai-Feng find all the locations of the Walls on Terra. We covered this all very well. Raziel is fair. Did he mention he might talk to Raphael, too?" Beren replied in the negative on the other end. "That's alright. I'm sure Eli will mention the skull piles to him. Have you talked to Raphael in the last couple of days?"

"He's the one delivered the request from Galactic. Two days ago. I'll keep ya posted if I learn a whit from any of 'em. Why don't you give 'im a call, lad? Heh," Beren laughed, "listen to me, callin' ye a lad. How's me little moon-child? You want me to call Seth and have him come and take her home fer a bit? Did ya tell 'er?"


Ash sighed heavily. "Aye, yesterday. She knows. I don't want to, but she'll be safer at home with her parents. I'll have to come to your place once Raziel makes his decision. So, if you would. I have some other calls to make and break the news to Luna. Thank you, Lord Beren, for everything."
