While they waited for their soup to cool, Mr. Feng, Eve and Willy discussed the news that unusual fauna had been seen in large numbers on the other side of the world, both in the sea and on the land.
"The xenobiologists claim that they're not from Theta Aquarii," Mr. Feng said. "Willy, can you tell me anything about that?"
Willy looked hard at Mr. Feng but said nothing. After a long while, he nodded.
18-SOL continued to charge from the building's power.
Seven overhead display stations continued to pour out their various images and sounds.
The hoverbikes popped and ticked as their power supplies cooled.
And the crickets continued their almost bell-like songs in the damp evening.
